Solutions for Case Study on “Conflicting Ideas”

What are your initial impressions of this conflict? What factors do you think contributed to this conflict? Identify several contributing factors. Be specific.

Self-Importance developed in Brad and Cameron due to the committee project assigned is the initial impression of this conflict.

Factors Contributed to this conflict:

Anger:- It is very obvious that any one person’s anger will often stoke the flame of another person. This results in more frustration developed between Brad and Cameron which will never let them come into a resolution.

Authoritative behaviour: Even though Cameron and brad were in a good position of the company they don’t have the right to behave unprofessionally in the work environment just because to prove themselves right. In work culture, even the leader has to take suggestions from the team members and proceed with the highest polled decision.

Holding Grudges:- From the start itself, it seems that both Brad and Cameron were not having good relations with each other. Holding grudges towards each other may result in a big conflict like this in the future.

What are the impacts of this conflict?

Wastage of Time:- This kind of conflict waste the precious time which the team members could have spent in doing some business work

Affects the targets and goals set:-  As in this case the committee was held for coming into a decision for the project. hence the target of this meeting was to decide how to proceed but they could not achieve the set goal due to this conflict.

Influence a healthy office environment and performance:- By seeing both Brad and Cameron snapping at each other, the members of the committee and other staff would get influenced by their unprofessional behaviour. Seniors behaving like these can impact on newcomers and juniors of the organization.

What would you do to help? If you were one of the other coworkers at this committee meeting, what might you say?

If I was one of the coworkers at this committee meeting, I would first validate both brad and Cameron’s point of discussion and would try to come at common ground. After knowing the roots of the problem I would act as a mediator and then if I feel that I can give some suggestions, I would like to advise brad that not to take everything personally and it was the majority decision to proceed with Cameron’s idea which does not mean that brad’s idea was wrong. The decision was taken considering the company’s growth and success.

What do you think could help prevent a situation like this from escalating? If you were either Cameron or Brad, what would you have done differently?

If I was Brad I would definitely not react as he did. Instead of being too self-esteemed, I would try to understand how and why Cameron’s plan was good for the company and my job was to work for company’s growth, not something achieving for myself.

If I was Cameron, Even though knowing that my plan was good for the company, I would react professionally instead of snapping at brad I would first listen to him and then politely or in a friendly way try to explain to him why my plan was beneficial for the company by showing him all reliable facts that’s how you the convincing techniques in work culture.

Lessons learned from a bicycle.

M y Bicycle tales 🚲 I vividly remember my first cycling experience on a Hero 'Cyclone' bike, a sky blue colored that belonged to my elder sister. As a child, riding that cycle felt like a privilege, but due to my height, it wasn't the perfect fit for me. My parents always reassured me that once I grew taller, my sister would lend it to me. I longed for the day when I could ride that cycle. Finally, in 7th grade, my patience paid off. My sister offered me the Cyclone bicycle. The feeling of joy I experienced that day is indescribable. For two months, I felt like a prince, seizing every opportunity to go outdoors with my bicycle. Whether it was fetching groceries, to buy milk, or helping my dad with bringing hardware accessories from nearby store, I was always ready for a ride, exploring the streets near my home. But one unfortunate day, tragedy struck. Returning home from my tuition classes, my  Cyclone bicycle was nowhere to be found. Panic set in, and I rushed to a nearby...
